The purpose of this work is to conduct a scientometric assessment of the publication activity of the teaching staff (TA) in the specialty of anesthesiology and resuscitation (A&R). Materials and methods. We examined the main scientometric indicators of the teaching staff of anesthesiologists and resuscitators of the Crimean Federal University named after V.I. Vernadsky in comparison with scientific anesthesiologists and resuscitators from capital universities and the leadership of the Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators of Russia. Results. It is shown that artificial ways to increase Scientometric indicators can be the inclusion of a large number of co-authors in an article. A frequent way to increase the H-Index is when an author or a group of authors from different institutions agree to mutually cite each other, as well as self-citation. Mutual and self-citations make the number of citations easy to manipulate. Conclusion. Publication activity in terms of scientometrics indicators of professors and associate professors from peripheral universities in the specialty of A&R is quite low and significantly lower than that of teaching staff in this specialty from capital universities. At the same time, high scientometric indicators do not always correspond to the scientific work invested in writing an article.
