The paper examines the prospects of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea in science and education in the context of the new relevant challenges. Studying of the foreign experience in scientific and technological development is considered as necessary to overcome the extensive nature of the Russian economy, to increase the prestige of careers in science and educa-tion, and to create conditions for the growth of human resources potential and effective development of high technology fields of economy. The paper provides a brief overview of undertaken initiatives in international cooperation, including a number of joint Russian-South Korean educational programmes, and examines the specifics of the development of the Korean educational system that incorporates both recent globalist trends and traditional institutions. As a result of the research, the authors propose a number of initiatives that could strengthen cooperation in science and education between Russian Federation and Republic of Korea and positively affect the development of the Russian high-tech industries.
