Abstract

In the context of the integration of artificial intelligence systems into scientific activity, the study of their role in the constituting of science as a social institution becomes relevant. Artificial intelligence technologies influence the process of science formation at both the macro level (transformation of the organizational structures of science) and the micro level (alteration the social practices of researchers). In the first case, the ability to analyze and classify big data obtained from aggregators of scientific organizations, publications, research projects and employee profiles, artificial intelligence systems are able to prioritize research areas, identify scientific groups with the greatest potential, and further reorganize the scientific community to achieve meaningful scientific results. In the latter case, intelligent technologies can serve as virtual assistants, performing various text-processing tasks as secretaries, assistants, analysts, and even collaborators.
