THE CRISIS OF TECHNOGENIC CIVILIZATION, THE CHALLENGES OF “FUTURE CULTURE”, THE TASK OF UPDATING THE PHILOSOPHY OF TECHNOLOGY

Rozin V.M.

Abstract

The article deals with the concept of technogenic civilization outlined by academician V.S. Stepin. The conditions of its conceivability are analyzed: the historical project of F. Bacon of mastering the processes of nature and the project of human restructuring, the orientation of social institutions towards the implementation of this project, the features of implementation, the negative consequences associ-ated with such an implementation. The way out, according to Stepin, is not to abandon scientific and technological progress, but to give it a humanistic dimension, plus the further development of the socio-humanitarian sciences and philosophy, as well as reasonable and rational management. The author formulates a concept that differs from the one expressed. From his point of view, the culture of modernity is being replaced by a new culture, which he calls “future culture”. Within the future culture, its own specific, culture-like technique will also be formed. The idea of such a culture and the tasks that may have to be solved in the course of its formation are briefly characterized. An analysis of the trends of our time shows that sociality and understanding of technology have changed significantly at present, in connection with which the task of a new start in the philosophy of technology is formulated. In this context, technogenic civilization will probably also be transformed.
